If
you're a creative "idea" person, Design
and Special Needs wants you!
The function of the Design and Special Needs Committee
is to provide a channel for design input from the community
which addresses artistic, education, or special needs.
One of the unique aspects of the Design and Special
Needs Committee is that we often involve local experts
for input into the project. This may entail some research
for historical data if there is a historical theme
or may include educational elements such as science
or math games. This process evolves into a playground
reflecting the unique character of our community. During
the build, artists may be called upon to decorate components
of the playground.
Participants may also be involved in design elements
around the playground such as landscaping gardens,
signage, courtyards, and pavilions.
The special needs portion ensures the structure addresses
the needs of individuals with disabilities.
